Don’t make the reason to travel, to escape life…
But for life not to escape you!
WHY I’LL NEVER STOP TRAVELING!
It’s too easy to forget who you are, and easier to become the person people want you to be.
Unless you travel that is…
TRAVELING SOLO IS EMPOWERING…
The first time I traveled, and by that I mean just arrived somewhere off the beaten track, I thought I would be the only one my age out there. For some reason travel is associated with youth. actually its just the opposite. I remember thinking. Wow! So this is where all the boomers are. ha-ha.
Traveling alone changes you. Suddenly you are you again, relying on your instincts and generally just doing whatever you want to do, without having to consider anyone else. Sounds selfish I know, but how long has it been since we’ve been able to do that. Years, it was for me. Even writing about it now, I feel like shouting out, woo hoo. ha-ha. I cant stress how empowering it is. It’s exhilarating!
To be fortunate enough to embrace different cultures worldwide gives you an insight into who you really are...
Don’t let traveling alone frighten you.
On my many trips I rarely spend more than a couple of days alone. There are so many people out there in the same situation as you, just friends waiting to be made.
Traveling is such an enlightening experience, It fills you with confidence and a general feeling of well being. Age is no barrier, and you meet so many like minded people. (after all us boomers make up almost o third of the population, and we’re all out there somewhere.)
After a 16 hour journey on the night train from Bangkok to Surat Thani, I got caught in a shower before hitching a lift in
the back of a truck to the ferry.

I’ve made so many freinds from all over the world. Travel opens a person up to a whole new perspective on life. The first time I traveled alone, I was’nt sure what to expect, and kind of kept myself to myself. Until I realized that it was me pushing people away, I was the unsociable one. I didn’t have the confidence to put my self out there. You have to get out and litteraly just smile. A smile is like a key.It opens so many doors…
